Maria is a mother of two amazing adult children, from a close Italian family and who has worked in different fields such as dental nurse, and business owner.
In her 30’s Maria was diagnosed with a rare life changing autoimmune condition called Scleroderma. Learning to live with this condition has given her the voice and passion to share and teach the community how it is possible for people with lived experience of disability to make their lives better. Maria’s passion is to support the broader community to be more aware of disability rights, to be more inclusive in the community and to know how to support people with disability on their journey.
Since 2017 Maria has contributed to several disability projects as a peer leader and community educator. Maria’s involvement includes working with diverse cultural communities to build community connections, contributing to raising quality standards, supporting carers and families to gain access to NDIS resources as well as general community inclusion, participation, and human rights.
Maria’s passion for raising awareness about disability rights comes directly from what she lives with on a daily basis.
